We’re heading into the final week of our Sleeptember campaign and it’s been a good one – thanks to all of you who have been supporting us.

Win A Set Of Books For Sleeptember  To celebrate we’re giving five lucky people the chance win a set of books, The Secret World of Sleep, new thriller The Sleep Room and Only Time Will Tell by Jeffrey Archer. As it’s Sleeptember and we’re promoting the healthy benefits of sleep, we’re challenging you to put down ALL gadgets before bed – from notepads, gaming machines, TV’s and most importantly mobile phones – and instead set aside an hour or so before bed to read.

We’re a nation of techies but unfortunately with this comes the inability to ‘switch off’ before bed.  A reported 95% of us spend our final hour in bed checking social media, emails, playing games on our mobile, yet it’s these things that stop us falling asleep. Exposure to even the weakest glow at night – for example, the notification light flashing on your mobile next to your bed – can unconsciously play havoc with your body’s circadian rhythms, keeping you alert when you should be sleepy.

Winding down before bed is extremely important when it comes to getting a good quality night’s sleep and we’re strong advocators of reading before bed to help relax mind and body.
